The Consultation

An Osteopathic consultation is fundamentally personalised, friendly and professional, always beginning with a thorough case history to establish all the factors in your health and lifestyle that may have lead to your symptoms. The case history also ensures that the treatment we provide is safe, effective and truly aligned with your goals.

We truly know our patients…….your goals and aspirations are central to our success.

After the consultation a process of osteopathic and orthopaedic physical tests are conducted including: static and functional observations, gait and specific movements. Joint mobility testing and palpation of tissues will always be performed. Sometimes video analysis maybe applied to understand particular movement disorders. At this point a diagnosis is made as to what may be causing your aches and pains and an appropriate treatment plan will be suggested.

Your osteopath will explain what they are doing and will always ask your permission to treat you. Osteopaths use a wide range of gentle techniques, depending on your age, fitness and diagnosis. Treatment is always hands-on and involves skilled techniques to mobilise and articulate joints, different types of soft tissue massage to release tension, stretch muscles, or more direct manipulations to help relieve pain and mobilise your joints. Self-help measures and advice on exercise is normally offered to assist your recovery, prevent recurrence or worsening of symptoms.

As with all osteopaths, LCDS is concerned with the functioning of the entire body. Indeed simple tasks require complex integrated neuro-muscular control, understanding this human biomechanics is central to our success.

It’s our profession to assist you in doing whatever it is you enjoy, and to do it wholeheartedly.

It’s your health…… your success ………… your passion, safe in our hands.
