Frankie Pioli – Physiotherapist
Frankie joined the team in the beginning of 2019 having recently moved to Chamonix from Val d’Isere. She is a passionate physiotherapist and sportswoman who started her academic training after developing an interest in biomechanics, while competing nationally & internationally in several sports as a youth (skiing, hockey, fencing). Frankie combined her studies in Wales with seasons in the Alps, allowing her to pursue her main sports of surfing and skiing while developing her technical understanding and appreciation of physiology and biomechanics.
It was during this time that Frankie developed a keen interest in Pilates, both to support herself physically and to contribute to her physiotherapy practice. She has since completed Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institution (APPI) level 1,2 & 3 and incorporates it into her therapy to help her patients recover and stay injury free.
Since graduating in 2014, Frankie worked in a busy rural hospital in Wales treating a variety of complex patients, whilst surfing (and more recently skiing) at a semi-professional level. A portion of her work was treating sporting injuries, often road cycling, mountain biking and fellow surfers, which fuelled her passion for sports related injuries and desire to return to the mountains. She moved to the Alps in 2017 and lived in Val d’Isere specialising in the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal injury before her move to Chamonix in the summer 2018. During her career, she has treated an Olympic gold medallist, professional mountain bikers, mountain guides, ski instructors and a GB triathlete.
“I try to take a holistic approach to injury prevention and rehabilitation believing that the emotional and psychological elements of physicality have an important bearing on healing.” Says Frankie, “I like to think that my background competing in a variety of sports combined with my years of experience in a busy hospital clinical setting has equipped me with a Mary Poppins size bag of skills to deal with a variety of clinical conditions.”

“Frankie, helped me recover from a knee injury. Her massage and structured recovery programme helped me work on my weaknesses in my alignment and strength issues that had result in the injury in the first place. With her professional structured approach, it was easy to understand what needed to be done and how to achieve it. The lessons I learnt have kept me free from injury and that’s amazing after years of knee issues. Thank you for your help and support to getting me ‘fully’ fit again.”

“I had treatment with Frankie towards the end of last winter season for a herniated disc in my lower back. Throughout my treatment she was professional and also very understanding of the pain I was experiencing. With her treatment, help and advice I am now fit and healthy and am itching to get back on skis!”
